NOTICE OF PROPOSED TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS IMPACTING BAR - BEVERLY GLEN AND MORE!
The Department of Transportation (DOT), at the behest of a group of homeowners in the Sherman Oaks communities, is proposing traffic restrictions that will have a negative impact on the traffic congestion in our neighborhood and surrounding communities.
The City is proposing to outlaw turns onto streets including Cody, Woodcliff (no right turns on red going westbound), Scadlock, and Longbow during the hours of 7 - 10am and 4 - 7pm on weekdays.
A public report by the DOT acknowledges there will be an impact, however, no studies have been done to determine how much of an impact it will have and whether other alternatives would be less intrusive. Although many feel sympathy for the homeowners who live on these streets, especially since we have the same problem, there is great concern that measures taken to ease congestion on these streets will cause more back-up traffic in our community along Beverly Glen Drive, Nicada Drive and other BAR streets, and will add more stress to our already congested road system.
BAR's position is that the proposed changes should be tabled until the DOT has had the time to properly investigate the impact on neighboring communities. One or more members of the newly created BAR Traffic Committee will attend the hearing and publicly comment on this position.
